I grew up in New Ulm, MN and went to St. Paul Lutheran School through 5th grade. My dad went back to DMLC while I was in school and was assigned to Hoskins, NE where I lived for five years. While in Nebraska, I attended Trinity Lutheran School in Hoskins and then went two years to Nebraska Evangelical Lutheran High School in Waco. From there my family moved to Saginaw where I graduated from Michigan Lutheran Seminary.
Lakeside is the fourth school I have taught at. After graduating in 2002, I taught grades 3, 4, & 5 for five years at East Twin Lutheran School in Mishicot, WI. I then accepted the call to teach 4th grade at Siloah Lutheran School in Milwaukee, WI. In 2011, I began teaching at Eastside Lutheran School in Madison where I taught a variety of classes in grades 3, 4, 7 & 8.
I married my wife Becky (Brien) about a month after graduating from MLC in 2002. We have been blessed with five wonderful children: Joey (LLHS '24), Tyler, Maleya, Caleb, and Rachel. Becky has the very busy job of running kids around to all the many activities they are involved in and making sure everyone is fed and clothed every day.
In my free time, I enjoy playing basketball and softball for our church teams. I also enjoying spending time with my family.
