What a blessing it is to serve at Lakeside! There is nothing better than being able to encourage one another in our faith like the faculty, students, and staff do each day. My teaching responsibilities include math and videography, two of my favorite subjects. I also have had the wonderful privilege of helping out with some of the activities as well, like basketball, the math team and making videos. As for background, I have a wonderful wife, Donna, and five children. Our children keep Donna and me on the run, chasing from one activity to the next. There is rarely a dull moment in our household.
I have also served at Lincoln Heights Lutheran School in Des Moines, Iowa. It was a two-room school. I taught grades 1-8 and took on the principal role. My wife taught kindergarten and helped out in countless other ways. Later I served at Mt. Calvary-Grace Lutheran School in LaCrosse, as a fifth-grade teacher, athletic director and coach.
My wife once asked while I was serving in LaCrosse if I would ever like to teach on the high school level. I told her, "I would love to teach math, but I don't want to give up teaching religion class." I went to DMLC (MLC now) to teach God's Word. That is why I serve in the WELS, and that is my greatest joy, sharing God's Word with others. Not long after that I received the call to teach math and Old Testament at Lakeside. It was miraculous to say the least!
